Akello Winnie β Kisenyi Slum, Kampala, Uganda
My name is Akello Winnie. I had to drop out of school when my family could no longer afford the fees, and for a long time, I felt like my dreams were over. I spent my days helping at home and trying to find small ways to earn money, but nothing seemed to change my situation.
Joining the Nature2Income project opened a new door for me. I learned how to make hair from banana fibres, and slowly I discovered a skill that I could turn into income. Now, I can create beautiful, eco-friendly hairstyles that people in my community love.
This project has given me more than just a skill β it has given me hope, confidence, and a future. I now dream of expanding my work and showing other girls who dropped out of school that itβs never too late to build a better life.
