My name is Nabakooza Joan, and I am a single mother living in Kanyongoga Slum. Life has not been easy, raising my children on my own, but I always wanted to find a way to provide for them while doing something meaningful.

When I joined the Nature2Income project, I learned how to make hair from banana fibres. At first, it seemed challenging, but with practice and guidance, I discovered a skill that I could turn into a real source of income. Today, I can create beautiful, natural hairstyles that people love, and I am proud to say that I can support my family through my work.

This project has not only given me a skill but also hope. I now dream of growing my small business and showing other women in my community that it’s possible to transform natural resources into opportunities for a better life.”
