Sharon Bora Mahooro – Namuwongo Slum, Kampala, Uganda
My name is Sharon Bora Mahooro. I was married when I was just 15, and life changed suddenly. I left school early and had to adjust to adult responsibilities far too soon. I often felt trapped and powerless, unsure how I could build a future for myself.
When I joined the Nature2Income project, everything changed. I learned how to make hair from banana fibres, a skill that gave me independence and hope. Today, I can create beautiful, natural hairstyles that people in my community admire, and I am slowly rebuilding my life.
This project has shown me that even after hardship, it’s possible to find opportunity and create a better future. I now dream of growing my small business and inspiring other young women to never give up.
